Job description
The Network Modernization Lead serves as a primary technical and delivery authority, partnering with stakeholders, AWS, NTT DATA delivery teams, security organizations, and third-party providers to design, implement, transition, and operate modern, scalable, and secure hybrid-cloud environments., Network Modernization Strategy and Leadership
- Define and execute the network modernization roadmap.
- Lead modernization of campus LAN, wireless LAN, WAN, internet edge, data center, cloud connectivity, and security architectures.
- Establish hybrid-cloud networking standards to support AWS migration, workload mobility, secure access, and resilient operations.
- Chair architecture reviews and technical governance forums for network, cloud, security, and managed services design decisions.
AWS Migration Enablement
- Lead network readiness, dependency mapping, connectivity validation, and cutover planning for AWS migration waves.
- Oversee AWS network architecture across landing zones, VPC design, segmentation, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, DNS, routing, and disaster recovery connectivity.
- Coordinate migration sequencing with application, infrastructure, database, security, and operations teams.
- Drive migration governance, issue resolution, change control, risk mitigation, and executive reporting for cloud migration activities.
Managed Cloud and Network Services Governance
- Provide leadership for managed network and managed cloud operations, including monitoring, event management, incident management, problem management, configuration management, and continual service improvement.
- Define operational readiness criteria, service acceptance gates, runbooks, escalation paths, SLA/KPI dashboards, and transition-to-operations deliverables.
- Partner with service management teams to ensure ITIL-aligned process execution and disciplined service request, incident, change, and problem workflows.
- Identify automation opportunities across provisioning, monitoring, compliance reporting, remediation, and operational reporting.
- Ensure managed services teams maintain accurate documentation, asset data, configuration records, support models, and service performance reporting.
Security, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Embed security-by-design principles into network modernization and AWS migration activities.
- Support Zero Trust architecture, network segmentation, least-privilege access, secure remote administration, and workload isolation controls.
- Coordinate with security teams on vulnerability remediation, policy compliance, audit support, security operations integration, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Assess and mitigate technical, operational, financial, schedule, compliance, and stakeholder risks throughout the modernization lifecycle.
- Ensure delivery practices support public-sector and education-sector requirements, including protection of sensitive student, staff, operational, and institutional data.
Program Delivery and Executive Stakeholder Management
- Lead cross-functional teams that may include network engineers, cloud architects, security specialists, AWS engineers, service managers, field resources, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Develop delivery plans, milestone tracking, dependency registers, risk logs, issue logs, and executive status reporting.
- Manage financial performance inputs, forecast assumptions, staffing plans, vendor deliverables, and modernization-related budget considerations.
- Act as an escalation point for modernization, migration, service transition, and operational risks.
- Facilitate workshops, technical design sessions, governance reviews, and steering committee updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 12+ years of enterprise networking, infrastructure, or cloud transformation experience.
- 8+ years leading complex infrastructure modernization or managed services programs.
- 5+ years supporting cloud migration, hybrid-cloud connectivity, cloud operations, or AWS transformation programs.
Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-team delivery efforts with executive-level client visibility.

Benefits & conditions
NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this role is $123,172 to 205,288. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
