Job description
This essential role supports enterprise-level identity, messaging, and secure file transfer services. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers to provide daily operational support for Exchange, Axway Secure File Transfer (SFT), Active Directory, Microsoft 365, L-Soft Listserv, SendGrid, and related infrastructure essential to statewide operations. The ITA2 will be responsible for providing monitoring, routine troubleshooting, configuration assistance, and operational support under guidance. This position offers the opportunity to learn and grow within critical state messaging and identity platforms, ensuring stability and continuity of service for agencies across Connecticut. This position will be responsible for:
- Active Directory - Creating, modifying, disabling, and updating user accounts; supporting onboarding/offboarding; managing security and distribution groups.
- Exchange Support - Providing basic mailbox and messaging assistance, including monitoring and routine troubleshooting under senior team direction.
- Microsoft 365 - Comfortable working in an ever-changing M365 environment, including familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365 Groups, and Microsoft licensing concepts.
- Assisting in troubleshooting third-party mass-email applications such as SendGrid.
- Axway Secure File Transfer (SFT) - Monitoring activity, providing routine troubleshooting, assisting with partner setup, and performing standard configuration updates under guidance.
- Listserv - Performing routine Listserv tasks, including list updates and subscriber maintenance.
- Email-Sending Applications - Supporting applications requiring SMTP relay or authenticated email workflows, including configuration checks and delivery troubleshooting.
- Scripting & Automation - Under guidance, using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph for routine administrative tasks, reporting, and data retrieval.

- Participates in system integration testing of operating system, system utilities, hardware upgrades as well as new software and hardware technologies;
- Works with project team to define and design scope for each project;
- Plans, coordinates and schedules assigned projects;
- Coordinates resources for projects;
- Ensures timely completion of all phases of projects;
- Evaluates and recommends vendors;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Six (6) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or another IT-related support area., One (1) year of the General Experience must have been performing professional information technology work in such areas as: installation and support of microcomputer hardware, software and operating systems; analysis, design and development of information systems; network hardware and software installation and support; network hardware and/or software problem diagnosis and resolution; performing any closely related professional IT function. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of an Information Technology Analyst 1., * College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology-related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
