Job description
We are seeking a Director of Platform SDK Engineering to define and lead the development of next-generation platform software development kits delivering tailored and comprehensive feature-rich software stack and toolchain for the different markets of automotive IVI/digital-cockpit, industrial, autonomy, robotics and other embedded markets., This leader will sit at the intersection of system software, embedded platforms, market segment requirements and developer ecosystems, building scalable and easy-to-use SDKs on top of foundational BSP layers to enable differentiated solutions across multiple vertical stacks and accelerate time-to-market for our customers. You will drive software development, platform entitlement with programming abstraction, developer experience, system performance, and ecosystem integration, ensuring our SDKs become the foundation for innovation across customers and partners., Platform SDK Strategy & Architecture
-
Define and execute the platform SDK vision spanning tailored SDKs for example:
-
Digital Cockpit
-
Industrial Systems and Automation
-
Robotics Platform SDK
Architect SDK layers built on top of BSP/foundational software, ensuring:
- Clean abstraction boundaries
- Cross-platform reuse
- Scalability across SKUs and verticals
- Clear metrics on segment specific care-abouts (real-time, safety, compute usage etc.)
- Create good tooling for the other run-time SDKs or applications to use for debug and performance management
- Differentiated performance, safety, and scalability at the platform level
Establish standardized frameworks for platform services (compute, IO, security, communication, virtualization)
Identify common across the different segment SDKs and put efficient org and work structure to maximize efficiency.
Work with strategic customers to deliver faster time-to-market while delivering continuous improvement and consistent developer experience across vertical and scale-out customer base.
Virtualization & System Software Leadership
-
Lead platform capabilities for virtualized environments, including:
-
Hypervisors and partitioning models
-
VirtIO-based device virtualization
-
Workload isolation across mixed-criticality systems
Create SDK ports for different segment multi-OS environments and drive integration working with the OSV partners:
- RTOS (real-time subsystems)
- Linux/Ubuntu
- Android
- QNX (safety-critical domains)
Ensure deterministic performance across heterogeneous workloads (AI, control, UI, sensor processing)
Domain SDK Leadership (Camera, Audio, etc.)
-
Oversee development of domain-specific SDKs to bring ease-of-use while exposing the platform and IP capabilities including:
-
Camera (sensor ingestion, ISP pipelines, CV integration)
-
Audio (low latency pipelines, DSP integration)
-
Sample pipelines etc.
Ensure SDKs are:
- Modular and composable
- Optimized for hardware acceleration
- Easy to integrate and use into customer applications
Embedded Systems & Real-Time Excellence
-
Drive system-level excellence across:
-
Real-time determinism and scheduling
-
Functional safety (ISO 26262, IEC standards)
-
Low-latency and high-throughput pipelines
Balance tradeoffs across performance, power, and safety constraints
Establish benchmarking and profiling frameworks for platform validation
Developer Experience & SDK Productization
-
Build world-class SDK developer experience, including:
-
SDK packaging, distribution, and versioning
-
Documentation, sample apps, and reference workflows
-
Integrated tooling (profiling, debugging, observability)
Lead implementation of modern CI/CD pipelines for SDK delivery:
- Continuous integration and validation across hardware/software matrices
- Automated testing (unit, system, regression)
- Release quality gates and long-term support (LTS) models
Work closely with strategic customers to solicit feedback and continuous improvement of developer experience in terms of capability, features, ease-of-use.
Partner & Ecosystem Collaboration
-
Work closely together with strategic key ecosystem partners to create the SDKs:
-
Canonical (Ubuntu)
-
QNX
-
Audio Partners
-
Other OS, middleware, and toolchain providers
Influence ecosystem roadmaps to align with platform requirements
Enable partner integrations into SDK frameworks
Engineering Leadership & Organizational Scale
-
Build and lead global, high-performing engineering teams across geographies
-
Drive:
-
Technical depth and architectural rigor
-
Strong execution culture and delivery excellence
-
Cross-functional alignment with silicon, firmware, and application teams
-
Strong quality rigor to deliver feature rich and quality software
Partner with product management and customer engineering to ensure:
- Market alignment
- Customer success
