Job description
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to support and enhance complex enterprise infrastructure through the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of critical IT systems. This individual will combine strong technical expertise with analytical problem-solving skills to improve system reliability, automate infrastructure processes, and serve as a trusted escalation resource while collaborating across technical teams., * Design, deploy, administer, and maintain Linux and Microsoft server environments across enterprise infrastructure.
- Support VMware virtualization, Microsoft cloud and on-premises environments, and core AWS services.
- Engineer and maintain enterprise infrastructure supporting application delivery, including networking, authentication, load balancing, security, and connectivity components.
- Implement and support Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Serve as the highest level of technical escalation for complex infrastructure incidents, troubleshooting, and break-fix support.
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve escalated system infrastructure issues and service requests to ensure operational stability.
- Develop and maintain technical standards, architecture documentation, operating procedures, workflows, and system runbooks.
- Create and enhance automation through PowerShell and/or Python scripting to improve operational efficiency and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Utilize source control practices and tools, such as GitHub, to manage infrastructure code and collaborate with technical teams.
- Promote standardized architecture, repeatable processes, and scalable infrastructure design across enterprise environments.
- Analyze infrastructure performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement solutions that enhance reliability and availability.
- Produce technical documentation, diagrams, and analysis using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while serving as a trusted technical advisor and contributing to an inclusive team environment.
Requirements
- Experience administering Linux and Microsoft server environments within an enterprise setting.
- Experience supporting VMware infrastructure, Microsoft cloud and on-premises environments, and AWS core services.
- Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
- Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure, including networking, authentication, security, and application delivery components.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues while serving as an advanced technical escalation resource.
- Proficiency with PowerShell and/or Python scripting for automation and system administration.
- Experience using version control platforms such as GitHub for infrastructure or code management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize patterns and improve system performance.
- Experience developing technical documentation, standards, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and stakeholders while supporting enterprise technology initiatives.
