Network Engineer - Consultant

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) is looking for a skilled Network Administrator Consultant who will act as a point of reference for the Network Operations Center team on technical issues. While reporting to the Network Operations Center Manager, the Network Administrator Consultant will work on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems, making recommendations, and implementing changes with little to no supervision. In alignment with SCDMV standards, this position contributes advanced technical expertise to support and strengthen daily NOC operations. Daily Duties

• Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot a statewide network infrastructure built upon a foundation of various solutions, such as Cisco/Meraki, Palo Alto, Fortinet/FortiGate, Certes, Citrix NetScaler, and Trellix technologies.
• Monitor network performance proactively, ensure efficient communication across the network, review and improve security compliance through cybersecurity best practices.
• Implement updates or changes to maintain optimal connectivity and secure version compliance.
• Work closely in a multi-team, fast-paced, dynamic environment, supporting multiple tasks concurrently.
• Provide knowledge transfer and informal training to peers where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Perform the configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of networking products.
• Troubleshoot network failures and identify network problems.
• Network analysis, design, installation, configuration, and support.
• Maintain network diagrams and other network documentation.
• Provide configuration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution support.

Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week. Note: There is potential for being on-call outside of regular business hours and on weekends on an as-needed basis for outages. Interview Process: Two Rounds. Candidates must be prepared to go onsite for one or both interviews. Important Candidate Requirements

• Location/Relocation: Candidates MUST be residents of SC, NC, or GA AND be willing to relocate within 40 miles of Blythewood, SC prior to their start date at their own expense.
• Travel: Candidate will be required to travel to various South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) Field Offices during work hours.
• Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License is REQUIRED for this position. A state vehicle will be provided for travel.
