We are seeking a Senior Developer/Analyst for Digital Counter Building Blocks to join our client's mission-critical team on a freelance basis for 12 months in Brussels, Belgium. In this role, you will drive the technical evolution of digital government services, making it easier and faster for partners to connect and innovate. Your expertise will directly impact the digital transformation of public services, empowering governments, citizens, and businesses to collaborate seamlessly. Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Developer/Analyst, you will be instrumental in simplifying and standardizing the integration of digital building blocks, accelerating adoption by partners and software vendors. Your work will ensure that digital services are robust, scalable, and future-ready - shaping the government of tomorrow. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and develop technical and functional solutions for digital counter building blocks.
- Standardize and automate configuration processes to streamline partner integration and adoption.
- Take ownership of the full development lifecycle: from analysis and architecture to coding, testing, and release.
- Lead code reviews and ensure clean, maintainable, and scalable code using best practices and design patterns.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, integrating feedback to refine solutions within the team's architecture.
- Actively participate in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) operations, driving continuous improvement and team collaboration.
- Coach and mentor developers, fostering a culture of excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure robust testing through unit tests and test-driven development methodologies.
- Contribute to solution architecture, ensuring interoperability and coherence across digital platforms.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience in .NET-based application development (.NET 8 / C#)
- Expertise in ASP.NET, Web API, REST, and Entity Framework Core
- Strong background in functional and technical analysis
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) in a leading role
- Proficiency with TFS/GIT (CI, MSBuild) or Bitbucket Pipelines
- Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, SQL Server, and Domain Driven Design
- Clean code practices, including design patterns, dependency injection, and IoC containers
- Unit testing frameworks (MSTest, NUnit, Moq) and test-driven development
- Experience with Visual Studio and GenMyModel
- Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS; experience with Vue.js is a plus
- Experience with AWS Cloud, Redis, and Java (Spring Boot) is a plus
- Experience as a solution architect or specialist-architect in domains such as networking, security, server infrastructure, application architecture, ERP, ECM platforms, Datawarehouse, or BI is an advantage
Language Proficiency
- Fluent Dutch speaker at European CEFR level C2 (required)
Other Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in leading and coaching development teams
- Proven ability to execute programming tasks efficiently: coding, testing, debugging
- Signed NDA document to be uploaded
- Demonstrable education with certification or equivalent experience in relevant programming languages and environments
- Professional, constructive, and collegial communication style
- Flexibility to work both on-site (Ghent/Brussels) and remotely as required
