Job description
Clearance: UK Eyes Only - must be eligible for SC and a sole british national due to the nature of the work. A defence and security organisation is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to help design, build, manage and support the IT infrastructure underpinning a tactical mission network in an on-premise environment. You'll work as part of an IT engineering team supporting a critical communications system used by hundreds of deployed users. What you'll be doing
- Maintaining and supporting IT infrastructure in a secure, on-prem environment
- Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues (hands-on problem management)
- Developing and deploying new infrastructure capabilities
- Monitoring performance and improving reliability/user experience
- Supporting end-user device build processes
- Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., security and project teams)
Requirements

Minimum 3 years as an Infrastructure Engineer (and 8+ years in a related IT field)

Strong knowledge across: o Linux OS o Windows Server o Virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V) o Networking fundamentals (routing/switching - Cisco)

Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail

Confident written and verbal communication Desirable

Infrastructure as Code exposure (Ansible, Terraform)

Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes/Podman)

Admin of enterprise platforms (Atlassian, GitHub, M365)

Security/compliance knowledge (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+)
