Job description

The Power BI Developer supports PG&Es business intelligence environment by designing, building, and maintaining dashboards, reports, and semantic models in Microsoft Power BI. Working closely with the Senior Business Intelligence Developer and the Director of Fundraising Data and Analytics, this role turns fundraising and engagement data into clear, reliable reporting that provides actionable insights for fundraisers and PG&E leadership, including dashboards and reports that support self-service analytics for fundraising teams. While the Senior BI Developer leads data warehouse design, ETL development, and system architecture, the Power BI Developer owns the reporting layer, including dashboard development, KPI design, and user experience.The role is primarily focused on Power BI dashboards, DAX measures, and stakeholder facing analytics, and works as a collaborative partner and thought partner to the Senior BI Developer across the reporting lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment, to improve and modernize reporting tools and processes as analytics needs evolveThis role also provides backup support for BI issue triage during periods of coverage, helping identify, document, and escalate data or pipeline issues in partnership with the Senior BI Developer and database teams.

Essential Responsibilities

POWER BI DEVELOPMENT AND REPORTING

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets using DAX and Power Query
  • Create clear, user-friendly visualizations and reports for operational and executive audiences that support self-service analytics
  • Explore and use Power BI features, including emerging AIassisted capabilities, to improve the efficiency of dashboard and report development

REQUIREMENTS GATHERING AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand and prioritize reporting needs, translate business questions into reporting solutions, and validate outputs for accuracy and usability
  • Communicate insights and reporting logic clearly to nontechnical audiences to support informed decisionmaking

KPI DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS

  • Support the definition and implementation of KPIs for fundraising and engagement
  • Design dashboards to monitor donor behavior, campaign performance, and operational metrics
  • Collaborate with analytics colleagues to ensure consistent business logic and reporting standards

REPORTING QUALITY, VALIDATION, AND COLLABORATION

  • Test and validate dashboards and reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance
  • Investigate reporting anomalies and partner with the Senior BI Developer and data teams to resolve reporting discrepancies
  • Work with CRM, database, gift processing, and BI colleagues to ensure reporting aligns with underlying data models and source systems, and contribute to documentation

SELF-SERVICE AND USER ENABLEMENT

  • Support selfservice analytics by providing guidance on how to use dashboards and reports
  • Promote best practices in dashboard usage and data interpretation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, or analytics roles.
  • Experience within the humanitarian, NGO, nonprofit, or fundraising sectors is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI, including strong working knowledge of DAX for developing measures and KPIs, and experience using Power Query to prepare and transform data.
  • Experience using SQL to query and manipulate data from relational databases.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions, including validating outputs and investigating data issues.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and reporting environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English is required; working proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic is a plus., * Experience working in stakeholder-facing analytics or reporting roles.
  • Experience working with CRM technologies and data (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, or SSAS.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps and/or Power Automate is considered a strong asset.
  • Exposure to ETL processes (e.g., SSIS or similar tools), particularly for troubleshooting and collaboration.
  • Experience working with fundraising or nonprofit data.
  • Experience developing or supporting self-service reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with digital analytics, segmentation, or A/B testing concepts.
  • Exposure to tools such as Python or R for data analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics tools and an interest in using them responsibly to support reporting and analysis.

Salary Level:

  • US: The starting annual salary for this role will range from USD $90,000 to USD $110,000.
  • UK: The starting annual salary for this role is 63,840.
  • Other Countries: Salaries will be benchmarked against local market rates and will be commensurate with professional experience and internal equity., $90,000.00
