PrideStaff is currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Temporary IT Support Assistant for a premier client in Dover, NJ.
This is a focused, 1-month on-site project designed to support the local IT department. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in organizing IT room materials, preparing backup equipment for deployment, performing basic device updates, and coordinating the secure disposal of old hard drives and data-bearing equipment. If you are highly organized, comfortable following IT data-handling procedures, and looking for a great short-term project, we want to hear from you!, * Inventory Management: Label, inventory, and organize IT room materials, including equipment, cables, peripherals, supplies, and documentation.
- Equipment Sorting: Categorize items into usable, repair/review, recycle, and disposal bins based on direction from IT or Operations.
- Asset Tracking: Record critical asset information such as tags, serial numbers, model numbers, location, condition, and readiness status.
- Secure Disposal: Coordinate with approved vendors (under IT direction) to arrange the safe destruction or recycling of old storage media and data-bearing devices.
- Device Preparation: Power on backup laptops, check physical conditions, apply necessary Windows and software updates, verify functionality, and prep them for future use.
- Hardware Review: Inspect barcode scanners, checking conditions, charging/connection status, labels, configurations, and updates.
- Quality Control: Identify and promptly escalate any missing, damaged, obsolete, or security-sensitive items.
- Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized IT workspace and provide simple daily status updates on completed work and open issues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in IT support, equipment organization, inventory control, warehouse support, or a technical internship is preferred.
- Coursework, certification, or an active interest in Information Technology, computer support, or electronics is highly desired.
- Familiarity with Windows laptops, common peripherals, barcode scanners, and mobile devices is helpful.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for labels, serial numbers, equipment conditions, and status tracking.
- Technical Literacy: Basic computer skills, including a comfort level with Windows updates, device setup, spreadsheets, and simple documentation.
- Instruction Following: Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions, specifically regarding data-bearing devices and company equipment.
- Communication: Dependable communication skills, good judgment, and the willingness to ask questions when data-security or equipment instructions are unclear.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely move, lift, and organize moderate-weight IT equipment throughout the on-site assignment.
