Job description

  • Perform full lifecycle software engineering, including planning, requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, debugging, and deployment
  • Modernize JENM software using Java and React/Redux frameworks
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, and maintain system components
  • Develop new features and enhancements for the JENM platform
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects by responding to tickets
  • Present technical recommendations to engineering teams and decision boards
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders (SPAWAR/NAVWAR) on system design and implementation updates
  • Potentially lead software development efforts and guide technical analysis from concept through deployment

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and SOLID principles
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in:
  • Java development
  • JavaScript frameworks/libraries (React preferred) for full stack development
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Familiarity with build and CI tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins)
  • Experience with version control and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required, * 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, H2) including database design and data access
  • User Interface (UI) design and implementation experience
  • Software simulation development and integration experience
  • Knowledge of software-defined radio, RF communications, data/network communications, or network management

About the company

Our client is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to support the modernization and enhancement of the Joint Enterprise Network Management (JENM) software program at NIWC Pacific. This software enables engineers to manage and optimize RF/SATCOM communications systems, including tactical radios used by the military. This role involves working on a collaborative team of approximately 10 engineers to maintain and improve mission-critical software systems using modern development technologies. The position requires on-site work in San Diego, with a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office.
