Job description
Provide instruction for Computer Applications (BST110) , a Windows-based computer course that serves students in the Business programs as well as other academic areas. This is a hands-on course covering Windows file management and basic Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills using Microsoft guidelines. This is the gateway course for advanced-level Microsoft application courses and also serves students in business and other programs on campus.
Comprehensive instruction includes methodologies for students developing conceptual understanding, applying critical thinking, and acquiring basic hands-on Microsoft Office skills. This course will be delivered/offered on campus .
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide on campus instruction utilizing educational technologies.
- Select and develop appropriate materials for class use to fulfill course learning outcomes.
- Track and assess student progress.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Education or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
- Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills.
- Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
- Ability to create a classroom environment that engages students and supports learning.
- Skill in using technology to support the writing, teaching, and learning processes.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Business Education or a related field.
- College-level teaching experience.
- Professional development in teaching at the community college level.
- Experience as an administrative assistant.
- Skill using MOODLE to support student learning.
- Microsoft Office certification.

Benefits & conditions
COMPENSATION : Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale (currently $4,536 for 3-credit course). Part-time, non-benefited DCE/MCCC Unit position.
