Job description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer SME to design, implement, and maintain robust network infrastructures that support our organization's critical operations. This role combines strategic network planning with hands-on technical implementation, requiring expertise in network architecture, performance optimization, and collaborative problem-solving., * Plan network configurations for integration into the network and ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.

  • Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the Sponsor's engineering review boards for approval prior to the addition of new technologies to the network

  • Perform operational and maintenance activities

  • Utilize network analysis tools to identify performance problems in the network

  • Troubleshoot to restore network to optimal performance levels

  • Assist and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Review user requests for upgrades/additions to the network to assess impact on network performance and provide advice/guidance on the most practical/cost-benefit technical approach

  • Analyze customer requirements and solve problems with innovative solutions.

  • Provide expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including routers, switches, scripting languages, and networks.

  • Provide expert knowledge to sustain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintain system backup and recovery capability.

  • Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software

  • Create plans and configure systems for data communication networks.

  • Design and build hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.

  • Evaluate new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.

  • Stay current on knowledge of relevant technology.

  • Serve as a task lead and be recognized as a SME in network engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in network design and administration
  • Experience with installation and configuration of Cisco Nexus 5000, 7000, or 9000 series switches
  • Experience with installation and configuration of Cisco Catalyst switches
  • Experience with installation and configuration of Cisco ASR 100X series routers
  • Experience with Cisco Firepower or Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls
  • Strong knowledge of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols, including appropriate use cases for each
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) preferred
