AZA Battery is seeking an experienced Senior Hardware & Software Engineer to lead the development of the electronic control architecture for our battery systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing the hardware and software platform that controls our battery modules and complete energy storage systems. This position requires a highly autonomous engineer capable of translating product requirements into industrial-ready solutions while collaborating closely with R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing and external suppliers., The Senior HW/SW Engineer will be responsible for:
- Defining the overall hardware and software control strategy for battery modules and complete battery tower systems.
- Designing the hardware architecture of AZA Battery products.
- Selecting commercial electronic components and developing custom hardware solutions when required.
- Developing software for system control, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and user interfaces according to the system architecture.
- Translating product and engineering requirements into robust, scalable and industrial-ready technical solutions.
- Working closely with the Engineering and R&D teams to define functional requirements and technology roadmaps.
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and related technical documentation.
- Supporting the definition of the Product Bill of Materials (BOM) and cost breakdown.
- Leading technical discussions with hardware, electronics and automation suppliers.
- Supporting laboratory and production teams in developing test benches, validation systems and data acquisition tools.
- Developing software solutions for industrial controllers and automation systems.
- Supporting data collection, monitoring and performance analysis activities.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable European regulations and industrial standards.
- Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering on project progress, technical risks and development milestones., The successful candidate will:
- Own the complete HW/SW architecture for AZA Battery products.
- Deliver reliable and scalable control systems supporting product industrialization.
- Ensure technical solutions meet performance, safety and cost objectives.
- Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Drive technical decisions with suppliers and external partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and development methodologies.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in hardware and software development for complex industrial control systems.
- Experience defining engineering procedures, development frameworks and technical standards.
- Excellent knowledge of sensors, electronic components, PCBs, embedded control systems and hardware architecture.
- Experience programming PLCs (Omron, Beckhoff, Siemens or equivalent industrial platforms).
- Good programming knowledge of:
- C++
- C#
- Python
- Knowledge of:
- Industrial robots
- Sensors
- PLCs
- HMIs
- PCB design principles
- Proficiency with Electrical CAD software.
- Good understanding of the European Machinery Directive and related regulations.
- Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or stand-alone battery systems is considered a strong advantage.

Education & ExperienceEducation
- Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in hardware and software development within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience developing industrial automation or battery control systems is highly desirable.
Languages
- French: Native proficiency.
- English: Minimum B2 level., * Software development: 5 years (Preferred)
- electronic engineer: 5 years (Preferred)
