Job description
As a Release Engineer at Air Apps, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, reliable, and efficient release process of our applications. You will oversee versioning, build management, and deployment workflows, ensuring that new features and updates are delivered seamlessly to users.
Your role will involve collaborating with development, QA, DevOps, and product teams to streamline and automate release cycles, reduce risks, and maintain high standards for software delivery.
- This is a fully onsite position, based at our office in Lisbon, where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in person and contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We are open to support with relocation efforts., * Manage and optimize release pipelines to ensure smooth deployment of software updates.
- Define and maintain versioning strategies, ensuring consistency across multiple environments.
- Coordinate with engineering, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure timely and stable releases.
- Automate and improve build, release, and deployment processes for efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot release-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Maintain documentation for release workflows, rollback plans, and deployment strategies.
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, and quality standards in all releases.
- Work with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) to manage automated releases.
- Implement and maintain feature flagging strategies to enable controlled rollouts.
- Analyze release performance and drive continuous improvements in deployment processes.
Requirements
- Around 3+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps, or build/release management.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD).
- Strong understanding of version control systems (Git) and branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation.
- Familiarity with build systems for mobile and web applications (Xcode, Gradle, Webpack).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to quickly resolve build or deployment issues.
- Understanding of release risk assessment and rollback strategies.
- Experience working in an agile development environment with fast-paced release cycles.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to coordinate across teams.
