We're looking for a Senior UX Designer who is genuinely energized by the complexity of operational workflows-someone who can spend time with our ops teams, understand what slows them down, and turn those insights into designs that make hard work feel easier. This is a high-impact IC role with clear ownership: you'll be the primary designer for HealthSource, working closely with product, engineering, and operations to shape one of our most business-critical products. Research & Discovery - Conduct regular generative and evaluative research with internal operations users-including contextual inquiry, task analysis, and usability testing - Build a deep understanding of HealthSource workflows: how requests move through the system, where errors occur, and what slows teams down - Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals (support ticket patterns, usage data, direct interviews) into clear problem

definitions - Maintain and evolve a living view of the user, their mental models, and the operational context they work in Design & Systems - Own end-to-end design for HealthSource features-from early concepts through to polished, spec-ready deliverables - Create detailed interaction designs, flows, and prototypes that handle edge cases and error states, not just the happy path - Contribute to and enforce consistency within Datavant's design system, identifying components to standardize across products - Design for efficiency at volume-our ops users process hundreds of requests per day, so every friction point compounds - Balance short-term iterative improvements with longer-term systemic redesign opportunities Collaboration & Craft - Partner closely with the HealthSource PM and engineering team throughout the product development cycle - Work directly with operations managers and specialists to validate designs early and often - Communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders - Contribute to product strategy conversations-you'll be expected to have a perspective on what problems are worth solving and why - Coordinate with the broader design team on shared patterns, principles, and critique What We're Looking For Required - 5+ years of UX design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating strong craft across research, interaction design, and systems thinking - Demonstrated experience designing for internal tools, ops platforms, or workflow-heavy products-not just consumer experiences - Fluency in the full research toolkit: when to use what method, how to synthesize findings, and how to bring stakeholders along - Strong interaction design skills-you think carefully about state, error handling, progressive disclosure, and keyboard/accessibility patterns - Experience contributing to or working within a design system - Comfort operating with ambiguity-this role requires you to define problems, not just execute solutions handed to you - Strong written communication; you can write a clear design brief, decision rationale, or research readout without hand-holding Nice to Have - Experience in healthcare, health IT, or highly regulated data environments - Familiarity with release of information, medical records, or similar operational healthcare workflows - Experience designing for high-frequency task workflows where speed, accuracy, and error recovery are critical - Comfort working with Figma, Figjam, and basic data tools (Sigma, Looker) to pull usage cont
