About the Role

We are currently supporting a leading global technology organisation in the search for an experienced Network Engineer to join its Central Technology team in the Netherlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong AWS networking, cloud security and automation experience to work within a large-scale, enterprise cloud environment supporting millions of users worldwide.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability and security of complex public cloud network infrastructure whilst helping drive automation and operational excellence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Manage, maintain and optimise large-scale AWS network infrastructure.
Support highly available cloud networking environments across multiple AWS regions.
Configure, maintain and troubleshoot cloud networking components including Transit Gateways, VPCs, Route Tables, Subnets, VPNs and Direct Connect.
Deploy, manage and support enterprise Firewall solutions within AWS environments, preferably Palo Alto.
Ensure the security, reliability and performance of cloud network infrastructure.
Automate network provisioning, configuration and operational processes using Python and Terraform.
Monitor network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact production.
Troubleshoot complex networking, routing and security incidents.
Work closely with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security and Platform Engineering teams.
Engage with external vendors and cloud providers to resolve technical issues and service incidents.
Contribute to continuous improvements across networking, automation and operational processes.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

Strong commercial experience supporting enterprise AWS networking environments.
Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing and switching principles.
Solid understanding of BGP routing.
Hands-on experience with AWS networking services including:
Transit Gateway
VPC
Route Tables
Subnets
NAT Gateway
Internet Gateway
Gateway Load Balancer
VPN
Direct Connect

Strong experience managing network security within AWS.

Commercial experience configuring and supporting cloud firewalls, ideally Palo Alto.

At least 3 years' experience using Python for network automation and scripting.

At least 3 years' experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.

Experience troubleshooting complex production networking issues.

Experience working within large-scale enterprise cloud environments.

Desirable

Palo Alto Firewall certifications or equivalent experience.
Experience with Internet routing technologies including RPKI and IRR.
Knowledge of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and peering.
Experience supporting multi-cloud or multi-vendor networking environments.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
Experience with monitoring and observability tooling.
