Job description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Web Developer to join our team. This is an office-based role where you will work on a variety of exciting client projects, building high-quality websites from concept through to launch., As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining bespoke websites and e-commerce platforms on behalf of our clients. Every project is different, so you must be confident adapting your skills and approach to meet each client's individual requirements.

You should have strong coding experience and be capable of producing websites that are modern, responsive, functional, secure and built with SEO best practices in mind.

This role requires someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, takes pride in their work and can consistently deliver projects to a high standard whilst working to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bespoke websites for a wide range of clients.
  • Build responsive e-commerce websites using WooCommerce and other suitable platforms.
  • Develop custom website functionality using clean, well-structured code.
  • Work with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.
  • Develop and customise WordPress themes and plugins where required.
  • Ensure websites are fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • Build websites with technical SEO best practices from the ground up.
  • Optimise websites for speed, performance and user experience.
  • Integrate APIs, payment gateways and third-party services.
  • Test and quality-check all websites before launch.
  • Identify and resolve bugs and technical issues efficiently.
  • Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Manage multiple client projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with current web technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

Applicants must have proven commercial experience with:

You must also:

  • Have experience building bespoke websites from scratch.
  • Be confident writing and editing code without relying solely on page builders.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Be organised and capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Produce clean, maintainable and scalable code.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

Graphic design experience is a bonus. Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or Adobe XD would be beneficial, although it is not essential.

Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is essential for this role.

The successful candidate must take pride in producing websites of the highest quality. You should be able to identify coding issues, design inconsistencies, layout problems and SEO improvements before a website is launched.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating websites that are visually impressive, technically sound, user-friendly and built to achieve strong search engine performance.

Benefits & conditions

  • £28,000 basic salary.
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm.
