Are you a Network Engineer looking to work on high-impact systems that genuinely support national security? Want to be part of a team delivering modern, resilient digital services to Government and Defence clients?

As a Network Engineer at Sopra Steria, you will play a key role in an exciting transformation within Defence Business Services. You will work with secure, enterprise-scale networks, supporting critical services through innovative technology and robust infrastructure. You will be joining a collaborative and supportive team that values learning, progression and technical excellence, while operating in a unique and trusted environment.

This role is based in Gosport, with an expectation of being onsite around two days per week. Candidates not local to Gosport will also be considered, provided they are willing to meet the onsite requirement. We can offer great career progression opportunities, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs, and training and development opportunities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitoring and optimising network performance to ensure high availability, resilience and reliability.
  • Supporting routing and switching across office and data centre environments.
  • Managing and supporting firewall technologies such as Fortigate or Fortiweb, or equivalent solutions.
  • Working hands-on within data centre operations and secure environments.
  • Supporting incident, change and problem management using tools such as ServiceNow and SolarWinds.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support critical services.

Requirements

  • Experience with enterprise firewall technologies such as Fortigate or Fortiweb, or equivalent.
  • Strong routing and switching experience across office and data centre networks.
  • Hands-on experience working within data centre operations.
  • Experience using ServiceNow, SolarWinds or similar monitoring and ITSM tools.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Gosport for around two days per week.

It would be great if you had:

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as Azure or OCI.
  • An interest in learning new technologies, including developing cloud automation skills.
  • An active DV clearance.
