Job description

  • We will have you lead the end-to-end development of modern web applications across our digital estate.
  • We will have you design, build and deploy new, high-performance customer-facing websites, applications and digital solutions.
  • We will have you maintain, debug and scale our existing web properties to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • We will have you manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows to support reliable delivery of code.
  • We will have you track tickets and document progress effectively within an Agile framework.
  • We will have you work on the ongoing development of our bespoke headless CMS built on the Sanity framework.
  • We will have you collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to discuss constraints and decisions.

Requirements

  • We need strong skills in HTML5, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • We need commercial experience with React, plus build tools and frameworks such as Vite and Gatsby.
  • We need a moderate to strong understanding of GraphQL, particularly within the Gatsby and Sanity ecosystems.
  • We need knowledge of React Testing Library and testing tools such as Vitest or Jest.
  • We need strong experience with Node.js and serverless architectures.
  • We need experience working with Sanity CMS, Firebase and Google Cloud Platform.
  • We need a moderate understanding of SQL and NoSQL database architectures.
  • We need solid experience with GitHub and CI/CD processes, including Netlify Hosting.
  • We need familiarity with issue tracking and Agile workflows via JIRA.
  • We need experience translating designs or written scope into responsive, pixel-perfect code.
  • We need a strong grasp of web accessibility guidelines, Core Web Vitals and technical SEO best practices.
  • We need a proactive problem-solver who can take ownership of tasks from concept to deployment.
  • We need a clear communicator who can discuss technical constraints and architectural decisions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • We need a collaborative team player who thrives in an Agile environment and is open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • We need someone who is willing to take part in our standby rota.
  • We need the legal right to work in the UK when employment begins.

We are seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our small web team and help deliver modern web applications across our digital estate. You will split your time between building new customer-facing solutions, maintaining our websites and developing our bespoke headless CMS built on Sanity.
