Job description
As a Design Engineer, you're the link between what a customer wants and what can actually be manufactured.
That's what makes this role interesting.
Customers will send over concepts, layouts or requirements, and your job is to use our standard specifications and library of parts to configure the most efficient and cost-effective solution.
You'll look at what works, what doesn't, what needs refining and how it can realistically be produced before developing the final design solution.
Some engineers love that challenge. Others just want to sit and draw.
This role is for someone who enjoys the problem-solving side of engineering just as much as the CAD work itself.
You'll use SolidWorks and CAD to create designs, work closely with customers and installation teams as projects evolve, then produce final manufacturing drawings, assemblies and BOMs ready for handover to the projects team.
Once one project is complete, the next enquiry lands.
The business delivers projects globally, while the engineering team is based in serviced offices in Telford with a genuinely positive atmosphere.
Requirements
It's one of those environments where people work well together, management trust people to get on with the job, and there's very little unnecessary process or politics.
You'll probably already have experience within fabrication, manufacturing, sheet metal or another project-led engineering environment.
SolidWorks experience is important, but mindset matters just as much.
The right person will naturally think about manufacturing while designing. You'll spot issues before they reach production and enjoy finding practical engineering solutions rather than simply drawing what's been requested.
