Job description
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Commercial Digital Factory in Gaydon. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical delivery with team leadership, helping to design, develop and maintain scalable digital applications across both frontend and backend services.
In this role, you will help lead a technical team across software engineering, platform engineering, integration and operations. You will work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Designers, Engineering teams and wider business stakeholders to turn requirements into secure, performant and maintainable digital solutions.
You will be involved in designing, developing, testing and maintaining application components, building and supporting APIs, services and integrations across enterprise platforms, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automation and DevOps best practice. Alongside this, you will play an important part in improving code quality, supporting troubleshooting and defect resolution, shaping reusable components and contributing to engineering standards and technical documentation.
Requirements
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also supporting others to deliver at their best. You will bring experience leading or supporting a development team, a strong understanding of agile delivery and engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate confidently across technical and non-technical teams. A structured approach to problem solving, strong communication skills and a focus on quality, security, performance and customer outcomes will be key.
Experience in automotive, manufacturing, retail or enterprise digital environments would be beneficial, as would exposure to cloud technologies, APIs, integrations, enterprise platforms or large-scale transformation programmes. Line management experience would also be helpful, although what matters most is your ability to lead with clarity, accountability and a collaborative mindset.
Benefits & conditions
In return, you will have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the digital transformation of one of the world's most iconic luxury automotive brands. You will join a team where engineering excellence, continuous improvement and thoughtful problem solving genuinely matter - and where your work will help shape digital solutions that support Aston Martin's commercial future.
Based in Gaydon, this role supports hybrid working arrangements, with occasional travel to company sites or partner locations as required.
If you are passionate about building high-quality digital solutions, leading technical teams and creating technology that makes a real business impact, we would love to hear from you.
