Job description

  • Applies expert knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
  • Performs work that requires expert practical experience and training.
  • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  • Supports infrastructure and systems database migrations.
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
  • Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) support including cybersecurity coordination, risk mitigation support, security control implementation assistance, compliance troubleshooting, and accreditation support activities with Windows, Mac, or Linux systems.
  • Maintenance and support of security documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), SA&A artifacts, risk assessments, control implementation documentation, configuration management records, and audit support materials.
  • Manage operating system and third-party application patch deployment using the BigFix Console, ensuring endpoint security and compliance.
  • Deploy and maintain Jamf for macOS device management, including installation, configuration, and policy enforcement.
  • Coordinate technical support across an off-site, multi-tenant, interagency NASA mission-support facility hosted at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S./B.A. in IT or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience.
  • Experience administering Linux systems (RHEL and Debian variants) Mac OSX, and Windows systems.
  • Experience working in compliance-driven environments utilizing NIST 80053 security controls.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining continuous monitoring and security reporting for Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Experience implementing Data-in-Transit (DIT) and Data-at-Rest(DAR) protections using FIPS 140-3 compliant encryption.
  • Experience enrolling and provisioning Windows and macOS endpoints into a Network Access Control (NAC) environment.
  • Ability to coordinate with network engineering teams to resolve endpoint connectivity and compliance issues without performing network infrastructure administration.
  • Familiarity with physical network infrastructure and ability to identify and verify switch port connections, trace endpoint cabling through patch panels, and coordinate with network engineering teams to resolve connectivity issues.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearance.
  • Ability to interact with other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
