Job description
The HRIS & Payroll Assistant provides day-to-day support for HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping operations. This role is primarily responsible for processing and maintaining employee data through daily HR system change requests, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The HRIS & Payroll Assistant also supports the Payroll and Timekeeping team by assisting with routine payroll-related tasks, audits, and coverage as needed., * Process daily HR system change requests in the HRIS, including new hires, rehires, job changes, status changes, pay changes, transfers, and terminations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of employee data by reviewing change requests for required approvals and documentation.
- Assist the Payroll and Timekeeping team with routine payroll tasks, including data entry, timecard review, and basic audits, as needed.
- Respond to internal inquiries related to HRIS transactions, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Assist with periodic audits, reconciliations, and data clean-up activities related to HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping.
- Provide backup coverage for payroll and timekeeping functions as assigned.
Requirements

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Basic understanding of HR, payroll, or timekeeping processes, or demonstrated willingness to learn.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or coursework toward a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Prior experience using an HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping system.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Familiar with office equipment and proficient in typing and/or computer skills.
- Able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must qualify for employment, after criminal background check, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
