Job description

Metronome is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Systems Operations Administrator to provide subject matter expertise in AWS cloud administration, systems operations, security, and infrastructure modernization in support of a mission-critical DoD environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining AWS cloud environments while ensuring compliance with DoD security requirements and AWS best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, plan, and develop cloud infrastructure requirements and technical documentation.
  • Design and implement AWS cloud architectures and operational solutions.
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain AWS workloads using both the AWS Management Console and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Implement security controls, perform system hardening, patch management, and maintain STIG compliance.
  • Support Kubernetes-based environments, including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Develop operational procedures and provide technical guidance to engineering and program teams.
  • Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to optimize performance, security, reliability, and cost.
  • Administer AWS services including EKS, Lambda, networking, IAM, security services, and other cloud-native technologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT Systems Administration.
  • Extensive experience administering Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting AWS cloud infrastructure and production workloads.
  • Experience performing patch management, system upgrades, and STIG compliance.
  • Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, and cloud security services.

Kubernetes & Containerization

  • Experience supporting Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Minimum of one year of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes and containerized platforms.
  • Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA) certification is preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.
