Job description
Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Cloud Administrator to serve as the hands-on owner of their corporate IT Server and Application Services environment. You will evaluate complex system requirements and design, implement, and maintain efficient solutions across the full enterprise, including Azure cloud infrastructure, Windows and Linux server environments, and security compliance for U.S. national security standards.
This is a senior SME role with broad responsibility, from architecture and standards development to daily operations, vendor management, and cross-team collaboration with Cloud Operations, Cyber Security, and Systems Administration groups. If you are an expert-level Azure administrator with deep Windows and Linux skills who thrives in a high-availability, security-first enterprise environment, this role is a strong fit.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain the Server and Application Services infrastructure across the enterprise
- Create and document processes for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, landscape design, 24/7 support, and change management
- Perform vulnerability management, monthly patching, and maintenance across all server platforms
- Oversee configuration, testing, installation, modification, and servicing of all server components and applications
- Perform and coordinate incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root cause analysis
- Create and maintain server and application diagrams and workflows
- Manage vendor relationships for evaluation, installation, upgrade, repair, and preventative maintenance of infrastructure components
- Function as Subject Matter Expert and consultant to Cloud Operations, Cyber Security, and Systems Administration teams
- Plan and lead comprehensive systems analysis and design activities for new infrastructure solutions
- Ensure 100% environment availability, implement fault and performance management, and enforce corporate security procedures
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold ONLY U.S. Citizenship. No dual citizens will be considered. This is a firm client requirement with no exceptions.
- Must be a Virginia resident located within 30 miles of Herndon, VA. Travel to the Herndon office will not be reimbursed. Please do not apply if you are not already local to this area.
- Must be able to work onsite in Herndon, VA a minimum of 3 days per week. Onsite requirement may increase based on business needs.
- W-2 only. No C2C, no 1099, no third-party agencies., * 5 or more years of experience in an enterprise IT System Admin or Cloud Admin role
- 4 or more years of PowerShell or bash scripting for automation
- Expert-level Microsoft Azure administration skills
- Senior-level Windows administration skills including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
- Experience with Ansible for deployments
- Experience troubleshooting and patching SUSE, RedHat, or CentOS Linux platforms
- Experience with firewall configuration and management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities based on system criticality
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-303/304, MCSE, or MCITP
- Experience integrating SIEM tools, backup solutions, and monitoring platforms
- Knowledge of NIST 800-53 Rev 4 security guidelines
- Experience supporting national security or government-sector IT environments, * Bachelor's (Preferred)
