  • Develop software architectures, interfaces, algorithms, and system designs.
  • Integrate software into embedded Linux and RTOS platforms.
  • Build, configure, and customize Embedded Linux distributions using Yocto, Buildroot, or similar tools.
  • Perform Linux system programming, including driver development and hardware enablement.
  • Support hardware bring-up, software deployment, and system integration activities.
  • Load and validate software images in laboratory and vehicle environments.

Verification & Debugging

  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments.
  • Execute software validation and document test results.
  • Troubleshoot complex software and hardware integration issues.
  • Optimize system performance and improve software reliability.
  • Support continuous integration and automated build environments.

Security & System Architecture

  • Develop secure embedded software using modern cryptography and secure architecture principles.
  • Support secure boot, trusted execution environments, SELinux, and system hardening initiatives.
  • Contribute to secure software update strategies and embedded cybersecurity efforts.
  • Assist with implementation of emerging security technologies, including quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Systems, Hardware, Test, and Cybersecurity Engineering teams.
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage project priorities while delivering high-quality software on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 57 years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C and/or C++.
  • Experience developing software throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Embedded Linux and/or VxWorks.
  • Knowledge of multithreaded, asynchronous, and real-time software development.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience integrating software with embedded hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern version control workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is highly desired:

  • Yocto or Buildroot
  • Linux device drivers
  • Bootloaders and memory mapping
  • Wind River VxWorks & Workbench
  • Eclipse, GCC, GDB, Qt
  • DOORS, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence
  • GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Type I or Type II Hypervisors
  • Secure Boot, SELinux, Trusted Execution Environments
  • Cryptography and embedded cybersecurity
  • NIST post-quantum cryptography
  • Safety-critical or real-time embedded systems
  • Ground combat vehicle or military vehicle software development

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship may be required).
  • Ability to work in laboratory, manufacturing, office, and vehicle environments.
  • Comfortable climbing on and working inside military vehicles.
  • Ability to pass Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for confined spaces. Occasional overtime may be required to support project milestones.
