Job description

Health Sciences Information Technology is looking to hire an Application Support Specialist to support their Research area. Health Sciences Information Technology provides technology support for the six schools of the Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. The team works to enhance the IT strategy in the Health Sciences and develop a technology organization and platform that supports education, research, and clinical activities. The team can enable the delivery of IT services to meet the goals of the Health Sciences, simplify the environment, and enhance services overall., Designs, develops, codes, tests, debugs, implements, and maintains moderately complex application software and/or systems. Prepares detailed specifications and recommendations for software, programs, and test procedures. Essential Functions

  • Supporting Redcap and Oncore application
  • Supporting and maintaining the custom applications.
  • Writing in SQL queries.
  • Collaborating with team member on software design and doing POC.
  • Documentation of functionality, procedures, and change requests.

Physical Effort

Light, Little physical effort. Duties are primarily Sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with research groups creating DCFs in REDCap or other EDC Systems. The Application Support Specialist will support various health sciences systems during implementation through to system daily tasks. The incumbent must have excellent communication and documentation skills. The candidate must understand relational database concepts and write basic SQL statements, understand API calls, and code in PHP or C#., * Understands Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems

  • 2-3 years of experience with coding language
  • SQL query experience
  • Experience with maintaining 3rd party applications
  • experience with research data storage

Preferences:

  • 5+ year experience supporting EDC systems, custom applications development., Minimum Education Level Required: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Years of Experience Required: 3

Work Schedule: M-F (8:30am-5pm); Required to attend all in person meetings.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department., Background Check: For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check

Child Protection Clearances: The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks are required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
