Job description
This traveling technician role focuses on installing commercial doors, frames, hardware, and insulated metal panels, as well as fabricating and installing metal trim in commercial and industrial environments. You will work from blueprints and shop drawings, perform precise field measurements, and operate various aerial and material-handling equipment while maintaining strict safety and OSHA-compliant work practices., * Install commercial doors, frames, and hardware, including impact flapping doors, impact press doors, and heavy metal doors.
- Install insulated metal panels (IMP) in commercial and industrial facilities.
- Fabricate and install metal trim to meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Apply knowledge of T-Bar skeletal systems to support installations and structural layouts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and layouts to plan and execute work accurately.
- Perform field layout and precise measurements to ensure correct placement and alignment of materials.
- Assist with panel installation and rigging, including safe handling and positioning of large components.
- Apply sealants and weatherproofing materials to ensure proper sealing and long-term performance of installations.
- Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts, working at heights up to 60 feet while maintaining comfort and confidence on platform lifts.
- Safely use hand and power tools required for carpentry, metal framing, and door and hardware installation.
- Maintain OSHA-compliant work practices at all times, including adherence to safety procedures and use of proper protective equipment.
- Support installation work in cold storage and food processing facilities, following site-specific guidelines and requirements.
- Coordinate with team members on-site to complete tasks efficiently and meet project timelines.

- Skill in performing field layout and precise measurements.
- Ability to operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts, and to work comfortably at heights up to 60 feet on platform lifts.
- Demonstrated ability to safely use hand and power tools for metal fabrication and installation work.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and commitment to maintaining OSHA-compliant work practices.
- Experience with door installation in cold storage or food processing facilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Scissor lift or boom lift certifications are a plus.
- OSHA 10 certification or higher is highly preferred.
- Experience with miscellaneous metals, including fabrication or bending, is an advantage.
- Familiarity with T-Bar skeletal systems is beneficial.
- Ability to assist with rigging and panel handling in a construction setting.
- Comfort working extended hours and a variable schedule aligned with project needs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and drawings.

Benefits & conditions
This role is field-based and requires regular travel to commercial and industrial job sites, including cold storage and food processing facilities. The work schedule typically runs Monday through Saturday, with five 10-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift, totaling approximately 58 hours per week, with a standard start time of 7:00 a.m. You will frequently work at heights up to 60 feet using scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts, and you must remain comfortable working from platform lifts. The position involves both indoor and outdoor work, often in active construction environments where adherence to OSHA safety standards is essential. You will use a range of hand and power tools and are expected to provide and maintain your own basic tool set, including ANSI-approved work boots, a tool pouch with side bags, tape measure, right- and left-handed tin snips, torpedo level, wrench set up to 3/4", 3/8" socket set up to 3/4", 2-foot level, crescent spud wrench, duck bill vise grips, vise grips, speed square, utility knife, channel lock pliers, and a chalk box. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and highly focused on safety, precision, and quality workmanship.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Noblesville, IN. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
