Job description
The Business Intelligence Analyst supports Applied Medical's analytics environment by building and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that drive business decisions. This role partners with teams across the organization to gather reporting requirements, develop BI solutions, and deliver actionable insights from governed data sources. The Business Intelligence Analyst, also known as a BI Analyst, works within Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SAP HANA, and SQL to support reporting needs across the business., * Gather and document business reporting requirements for projects, enhancements, and software change requests.
- Design, develop, test, publish, and support analytical reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Extract, validate, and analyze data from approved sources and semantic models to support business insights.
- Develop and support BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SAP HANA, SQL, and other approved reporting tools.
- Create and optimize reports, measures, calculations, and visuals for performance, accuracy, and usability.
- Review system design and specification documents with peers to confirm accuracy and consistency.
- Provide metrics, analysis, and reporting solutions that identify trends and business performance indicators.
- Follow data governance, security, access, and change management best practices across all reporting work.
- Share knowledge with BI analysts and business users to strengthen reporting capability across the organization.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, business analytics, or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of experience developing, supporting, and optimizing BI reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
- Proficient understanding of data validation, transformation, analysis, and report provisioning within a BI reporting environment.
- Experience developing, publishing, and supporting Power BI reports, dashboards, and related reporting assets.
- Experience working with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric semantic models, including measures, relationships, fields, calculations, and report level optimization.
- Experience with Power BI features such as Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query, refresh processes, security, and performance optimization.
- Functional knowledge of governed reporting datasets, semantic models, and approved enterprise data sources.
- Ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize Structured Query Language (SQL) queries for reporting and analysis.
- Understanding of dashboard design, data visualization, usability, and data governance best practices.
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), testing, documentation, change control, and production support processes.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and related productivity tools.

The Following Skills and Attributes Are Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric from a BI and reporting perspective, including Power BI integration, workspaces, semantic models, and governed reporting data sources.
- Experience with SAP HANA, enterprise reporting datasets, or governed reporting environments.
- Experience with data modeling within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric semantic models.
- Experience with data quality validation, report performance tuning, and DAX optimization.
- Proficient in SQL and DAX.
- Familiarity with change control, deployment, and release management processes for BI reports and reporting assets.
