Join the Critical Core of the District of Columbia's Digital Infrastructure! We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled DB2 Database Administrator to support the DMV's mission-critical system. - Perform installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and version controls.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize DB2 components.
- Implement and sustain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Support database design, data modeling, and SQL query optimization.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to support enhancements and fixes.
- Maintain strict data security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Analyze SQL performance and tune databases for optimal throughput.
- Support ongoing modernization, fixes, and strategic enhancements.
Requirements
- 15+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS).
- Expertise in database design, data modeling, schema management, and SQL performance tuning.
- Proven knowledge of high-availability technologies such as HADR, replication, failover, and clustering.
- Experience supporting complex, high-volume transactional systems, preferably in government or DMV environments.
- Familiarity with ETL, Data Warehousing, and Data Mining.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and performance tuning capabilities.
- Knowledge of IBM utilities, BMC tools, and enterprise application integration.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with IBM batch jobs.
- Knowledge of server performance metrics, storage structures, and network connectivity.
- Familiarity with industry standards for database security and data privacy.
- Prior experience working with statewide or similar large-scale systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of formal education.
- Demonstrated success in supporting mission-critical, transactional, high-volume database systems.
