Job description
The Development family is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions. May include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities related to software products used internally or externally on product platforms supported by the firm. The software development process requires in-depth subject matter expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers work closely with business partners and / or external clients in defining requirements and implementing solutions. The Software Engineering role specializes in planning, documenting technical requirements, designing, developing, and testing all software systems and applications for the firm. Works closely with architects, product managers, project management, and end-users in the development and enhancement of existing software systems and applications, proposing and recommending solutions that solve complex business problems.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical expert in Snowflake and Python-based data engineering solutions.
- Design and implement efficient, scalable data pipelines using Snowflake and Python, optimizing for performance and cost.
- Leverage Snowflake's advanced features, including AI/ML capabilities, to enhance data workflows, automation, and analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Develop and maintain robust SQL procedures, ensuring data integrity and alignment with business logic.
- Participate in solution design discussions, contributing technical insights and best practices.
- Support testing, deployment, and production maintenance of data workflows and automation scripts.
- Apply software development methodologies appropriate to project needs, including Agile practices.
- Align risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalate appropriately.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Talents Needed for Success:
- Deep expertise in Snowflake or alternative Big Data technologies, including architecture, performance tuning, and advanced features.
- Strong Python programming skills for data engineering, automation, and integration; Java experience preferred.
- Experience designing and building scalable ELT/data pipelines, orchestration workflows, and data products.
- Advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures, query optimization, data modeling, and transformation frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub/Bitbucket), Git-based development workflows, and Agile delivery practices.
- Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud-native services and integrating Snowflake within cloud data architectures.
- Understanding of data governance, security, compliance, and operational controls in cloud data platforms.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams.
- Passion for learning and adopting emerging technologies, particularly within the Snowflake and cloud data ecosystem.
- Knowledge of Capital Markets, Financial Services is a strong plus.
