Job description

Insight Global is looking for a Design Engineer to support one of their top customers in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. This individual will play a key role in the design and development of flight-worthy mechanical systems, structures, and hardware. The position will focus on driving engineering efforts from initial concept through production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure technical, manufacturing, quality, and customer requirements are met. Responsibilities include:

Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, structures, and components for aerospace and defense applications Develop detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical design packages using CAD software Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and trade studies to validate design performance and reliability Review and evaluate designs for manufacturability, cost, quality, and compliance requirements Create and maintain engineering documentation including requirements, test plans, reports, bills of materials, and production specifications Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and product deployment activities Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful project execution Participate in proposal efforts and provide technical support for new business opportunities Support laboratory, bench, and field testing of products and systems Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers while helping guide overall design activities

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 4+ years of experience designing mechanical systems, structures, or hardware in an aerospace, defense, or highly regulated engineering environment Experience leading design efforts from concept through manufacturing and testing Proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing creation Experience performing engineering analysis and design calculations Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Previous experience supporting aerospace, defense, launch vehicle, missile, or space-related programs Familiarity with military and commercial engineering specifications Experience with CAE tools and simulation software Prior experience reviewing and mentoring junior engineers Exposure to proposal development, customer-facing engineering support, or business development activities

Benefits & conditions

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000, Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
