Job description
We're hiring a hands-on Junior .NET engineer with 3+ years of experience to join our team on-site in Ashburn, Virginia, supporting our HR platform.
This is not a pure development role. You'll spend your time on hands-on .NET work - bug fixes, configuration, and improvements to our Windows admin app - alongside operational tasks like onboarding clients, managing documents, and monitoring feeds. New platform development is handled by an external dev partner; you'll be the technical bridge between our team and theirs.
The right person for this role is patient, organized, and comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders who context-switch frequently - someone who can take ambiguous, half-formed requests and translate them into concrete, actionable work without needing perfectly defined tickets to get started. This is also a role with room to grow: as you build trust and ownership with the team, your scope and responsibilities will grow with you.
The Role
The work splits across four areas:
Operations & Data
- Onboard new clients
- Enter and manage documents
- Monitor data feeds to integration partners
- Build new feeds when needed
Development
- Maintain and improve our Windows admin app (.NET desktop)
- Fix bugs across our broader .NET application stack
Support
- Be the go-to technical contact for our internal team and clients
- Investigate and resolve production issues
Coordination
- Work with our external dev team on platform-level changes
- Manage infrastructure tasks (SSL certificates, deployments)
Tech Stack
Primary: .NET, C#, Windows desktop (WinForms / WPF) Adjacent: SQL, REST APIs, data feeds & integrations, SSL/TLS
Requirements
- 3+ years of .NET development experience
- Patience for operational and clerical tasks alongside development work
- Strong C# skills
- Windows desktop app experience (WinForms, WPF, or similar)
- Comfort with SQL and data feed work
- Comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders who context-switch frequently
- Able to translate ambiguous requests into concrete tickets - taking a vague problem and turning it into actionable work
- Comfortable working independently
- Eager to learn and grow into the role over time
- Strong English communication
Nice to Have
- HR / payroll / benefits software background
- Experience with data integrations or building feeds
- Experience working alongside distributed external teams, * .NET: 3 years (Required)
