Job description

Edgecombe Furniture is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support and optimize our manufacturing operations through the effective management and utilization of our shop floor software systems. This role is responsible for maintaining production data, labor routings, job travelers, production standards, and incentive programs while driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial engineering principles, manufacturing processes, labor standards, and data analysis. This position focuses on maximizing the value of existing manufacturing software-not implementing new systems.

Essential ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Software Administration

  • Maintain and administer the company's manufacturing shop floor software.
  • Ensure production data, routing information, labor standards, and job travelers remain accurate and up to date.
  • Work with software vendors to resolve issues, perform updates, and improve system functionality.
  • Identify opportunities to better utilize existing software features to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support production departments with system troubleshooting and user assistance.

Labor Routings & Production Standards

  • Develop, maintain, and update labor routings for manufacturing operations.
  • Create and maintain accurate job travelers and manufacturing documentation.
  • Establish and maintain labor standards for production operations.
  • Ensure routing accuracy to support scheduling, costing, production planning, and incentive calculations.

Incentive Program Administration

  • Maintain and improve production incentive programs within the manufacturing software.
  • Monitor incentive calculations to ensure fairness and accuracy.
  • Analyze productivity data and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and employee performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Production Management, Payroll, and Human Resources regarding incentive program effectiveness.

Process Improvement

  • Analyze manufacturing workflows to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analyses.
  • Recommend process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Reduce waste and improve labor utilization throughout production.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Generate reports on production efficiency, labor utilization, incentive performance, and manufacturing metrics.
  • Analyze trends and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain production data integrity within manufacturing systems.

Training & Support

  • Train supervisors and production personnel on manufacturing software functionality.
  • Develop user documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide ongoing support to production departments regarding system usage.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience maintaining manufacturing software, labor standards, or production systems.
  • Experience developing labor routings and manufacturing documentation preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing software systems (MES, ERP, production management systems, or similar).
  • Experience with labor routing development and job travelers.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data and production metrics.
  • Understanding of production planning, manufacturing workflows, and process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience with incentive pay systems.
  • Experience within the furniture, upholstery, textile, or wood products manufacturing industry.
