MaXentric Technologies LLC designs wireless technology for high performance markets. We are seeking a high-caliber DSP & Software Engineer who loves solving challenges problems, takes ownership of their work, and retains a sense of urgency to meet project deadlines.

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives at the intersection of advanced signal processing, software, and hardware integration, bridging the gap between theoretical lab breakthroughs and robust, market-ready products. If you are innovative, a team player, exhibit intellectual curiosity, and have an energetic personality towards new ideas, we invite you to apply here at MaXentric. Position will be out of our San Diego office (La Jolla, CA)., In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and validation of advanced DSP algorithms and system-level control software. To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate the following core areas:

  • Real-Time System Design: Contribute to the design and evolution of advanced DSP for wireless communications, specifically utilizing FreeRTOS-based systems for task management and inter-processor communication.
  • System Development & Control: Generate novel solutions for DSP coding and communication architectures while implementing robust software control interfaces for DSP modules and FPGA components.
  • Verification & Reliability: Develop and supervise comprehensive design verification test (DVT) plans. You must have a proven track record of robust testing, diagnostics, and debugging workflows to ensure reliability across the entire digital processing chain.
  • Technical Stewardship: Maintain subject matter expertise by staying current with global advancements in DSP algorithms and digital communication trends to solve highly complex problems independently.

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Core : Proficiency in MATLAB and Python (coding and compilers).
  • Hardware Description/Simulation: Experience with several of the following is :
  • HLS, VHDL, or Verilog coding/compilers
  • Instruments LabView
  • Specialized Knowledge: Deep understanding of at least two of the following:
  • DSP algorithm design and real-time digital predistortion (DPD) coding.
  • Control and communication theory.
  • Digital coding for wireless communication systems.

Professional Capabilities

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively in a collaborative environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communication: Proven capability to deliver professional presentations that clearly convey complex information to design teams and stakeholders.

Additional capabilities are interested in (Not required):

  • Product Maturity: Someone who has experience "hardening" code-moving a feature from a fragile lab demonstration to a robust, reliable product that works under varied real-world conditions.

  • Heterogeneous Architecture: Experience designing the architecture of systems that leverage both FPGAs and processors for distributed signal processing. *, * You enjoy the journey from lab to life: You find it rewarding to take a "proof of concept" and polish it into a rugged, high-performing product that thrives in the real world.

  • You are a system architect at heart: You have a passion for designing heterogeneous systems and enjoy the puzzle of making FPGAs and processors work together in perfect harmony.

  • You thrive in a team setting: You believe that the best solutions come from collaborative brain storming and you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others through clear, engaging presentations.

Ideal abilities (A la carte in addition to minimums):

  • Someone who has brought a product to market and therefore has experience with bridging the gap between a lab demonstration and a product (i.e. making features that work in a lab setting robust enough to work reliably under various conditions)
  • Someone who has designed the architecture of a heterogeneous DSP system that leverages both an FPGA and processors

Minimum requirements (Simultaneously):

  • Experience with FreeRTOS-based systems and controller software, including task management and inter-processor communication
  • Experience implementing control interfaces for DSP modules, FPGA components, and hardware
  • Experience with robust testing, diagnostics, and debug workflows of complex systems to ensure expected behavior and reliability across the DSP processing chain

Overall, we are looking for energetic candidates who are innovative, curiosity-driven, willing to explore new ideas, and are strong team players with excellent communication skills.
