The Enterprise Data Engineering Manager is a member of the Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team and works in a variety of settings to identify opportunities for improvement, provide guidance, best practices and assistance for data pipelines, architecture, and data platforms. The goal is to make data available in a secure and performant manner to support the technical, operational, and business needs of Forvis Mazars. Typically, an Enterprise Data Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, platforms, and architectures that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence. They manage data engineers, drive technical strategy, and ensure data is high quality, secure, and accessible across the organization. Additionally, this position will work with teammates to drive efficiencies for the firm. Enterprise Data Services (EDS) are recognized internally as "the go-to people" for the most complex Information Management assignments. We analyze, design, and develop enterprise data and information architecture deliverables, focusing on data as an asset of value to the business. Working on the Enterprise Data Services team means we solve hard, complicated problems with aggressive timelines. Having and making a conscious effort to support and contribute towards a collegial attitude working together is of paramount importance for the successful functioning of the team. This can only be done by working together. What You Will Do:
- Works with a team to understand, in depth, both the business and technical problems EDS seek to solve.
- Maintains an enterprise-perspective when designing, developing, and implementing solutions and delivering services.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the Data Engineers
- Provide Data Engineer team status reporting
- Provide feedback and annual performance reviews for the Data Engineers
- Lead the publication of data engineering best practices
- Act as the Data Engineering COE (Center of Excellence) representative
- Assist in the scoping of efforts related to data engineering, including defining the business objectives, requirements and desired outcomes
- Promote enterprise best practices, guidelines and techniques in data pipelines, platforms, and architectures
- Act as a conduit to the data analytics and data governance Data COEs (Center of Excellence)
- Implement process improvements to reduce development time and assist in the integration of complex business factors to implement long-term strategic planning objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Technology, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years in modern data warehouse/data lakehouse data engineering with multiple implementations
- 3+ years of experience leading data engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with dimension data modeling
- Working experience in Fabric / Power BI (including semantic models)
- Experience in defining and implementing data engineering best practices and standards in a medallion architecture
- SQL Proficiency
- Experience with modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft, etc.)
- Work collegially and collaboratively within the team.
- Willingness to learn and become proficient with emerging data engineering capabilities
- Follow and contribute to Forvis Mazars' enterprise and data architecture principles and guidelines.
Benefits & conditions
Pursuant to Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range displayed is for the Colorado market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Total compensation and benefits consist of salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. Forvis Mazars reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs. Colorado Salary Range: CO Minimum Salary (USD) $ 111,300 CO Maximum Salary (USD) $ 204,000
