Job description
Join our dynamic team as a GIS Systems and Right-of-Way (ROW) Procurement Specialist, where you will play a pivotal role in managing geospatial data, supporting land acquisition processes, and ensuring seamless integration of GIS technology within our infrastructure projects. This position will work independently to update and maintain the Graphic Information System (GIS) by locating new and existing features via Global Positioning System (GPS) survey, conventional survey, field site visits and information fathered by other GMD Staff., * Coordinates with GMD staff to implement GIS and work order management system.
- Coordinate with the IT Department to determine software/hardware requirements for the GIS system.
- Coordinates with the Engineering Director and serves as the primary contact for acquisition of new rights of way or property.
- Review, approve and record right of way documents required by GMD and make recommendations regarding property value and selection of routes.
- Communicates effectively with management, department managers, supervisors, other team leaders, team members, and the public regarding GIS, Cityworks and GMD rights-of-way.
- Knowledgeable of GIS programming (Python, VB Script, or similar languages)
- Requires the ability to read a variety of policies and procedures, codes, regulations, construction drawings, work orders, maps, etc. Requires the ability to prepare documents, reports, records, correspondence.
- Must be capable of effectively communicating through written reports, maps and presentations.
- Requires ability to speak in public and private groups.
- Must freely communicate with superiors and subordinates, including taking instructions and giving instructions clearly.
- All employees are required to respond to work needs at any time including natural disasters, emergencies, and mandatory overtime.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in engineering graphics, GIS technology, computer science, information technology or related field; preferred.
- 1 - 3 years of work experience in GIS system administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience with ESRI software or similar GIS system software; preferred.
- Experience with operation of survey grade or mapping grade GPS equipment preferred.
- Experience with drone operation and ability to obtain FAA license preferred.
