Job description

Meta is seeking a data center Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our systems operate to meet the demands of our customers. The Electrical SME will be part of the facility's operations team and will be responsible for serving as the electrical system's technical operations expert. This role requires a broad understanding of electrical systems and equipment function, with responsibility spanning procedure-based electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training, and project oversight. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in low voltage and medium voltage power distribution, electrical protection and control systems, UPS and battery systems, electrical testing, applicable electrical codes and standards, and a working understanding of mechanical systems., 1. Serve as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operation

  1. Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local electrical team and applicable local and global teams
  2. Contribute to electrical safety program for site
  3. Plan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk
  4. Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipment
  5. Oversee electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are in compliance with best practices, including change control processes
  6. Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activity
  7. Lead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities in area of expertise
  8. Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross-functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changes
  9. Manage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit work
  10. Provide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvements
  11. Travel expectations can be significant during the first 3 months for initial training and onboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10-15%. and then ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc

Requirements

  1. 6+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experience
  2. Bachelor's degree or trade certification in related field plus 2+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 6+ years relevant electrical industry experience
  3. Experience in critical environments
  4. Theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction
  5. Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work
  6. Working knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems
  7. Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
  8. Experience in comprehending electrical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings
  9. Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, 1. Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenance
  10. Instrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experience
  11. National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) electrical testing experience/certifications
  12. Experience in a data center industry
