Job description
Ensures safe operations, maintenance, and repair of ammonia refrigeration, utility equipment, and utility systems., * Monitors ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure all components are operating within established set points and parameters.
- Performs routine maintenance on all mechanical and electrical ammonia refrigeration systems. Completes all required documentation.
- Interprets maintenance manuals and technical prints to facilitate troubleshooting procedures.
- Responds to system breakdowns and emergency situations with a sense of urgency. Complies with the Developed Mechanical Integrity program.
- Provides feedback on necessary changes to better align with Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)., * Work is generally performed in Company retail stores, freezers/walk-ins, motor and electrical rooms, parking lots, and on roofs.
- May be exposed to ammonia-related chemicals.
- Frequently exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather) depending on area.
- Frequently exposed to extreme heat conditions (non-weather) depending on area.
- Frequently exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.
- Frequently exposed to outside temperatures and weather.
- Frequently exposed to industrial odors, fumes and dust.
- Frequently exposed to heights.
- Frequently exposed to confined spaces (ex. air vents, crawl spaces).
- Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.
- Noise level varies.
Requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of ammonia and refrigeration chemistry and operations.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a hazardous environment with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
- Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
- Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Ability to use knives/box cutters.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
- Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack.
- Ability to use precision hand tools.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
- Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
- May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor., * High school Diploma or GED required.
- Two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
- Completion of vocational or technical school preferred.
- RETA CARO and/or CIRO certification preferred.
- RETA Operator I and II certification preferred.
- 24 Hour Hazardous Response certification preferred.
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy., * Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
- Frequently required to use fine finger movements (ex. sorting and typing).
- Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.
- Frequently required to bend, kneel or squat.
- Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.
- Frequently required to stand or walk.
- Occasionally required to sit for long periods of time.
- Attendance at work is required.
