Job description
As a GCP Platform Owner, you are someone who keeps an eye on the big picture. You ensure that integrations run smoothly, the infrastructure remains clean and traceable, data is reliably transformed-and that our platform will be just as maintainable in three years as it is today.
Our team consists of experienced specialists in data engineering, middleware, and ERP. What we're missing is the person who ties it all together: someone who understands what's being built, ensures quality, can independently familiarize themselves with every corner of the stack-and who knows when it's wiser to bring in an expert rather than keep digging on their own.
What you can expect from us
-
Take ownership of the GCP platform. You are the owner of our GCP tenants: all services, all projects, the entire infrastructure in Terraform. Anything that lasts longer than five minutes exists as code-no console clicks, no shadow IT. You know every component and have a clear overview of costs, security, and operational stability.
-
Build and operate supplier integrations. Every day, our platform synchronizes orders, order confirmations, and tracking updates with over 25 supplier partners-via Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, webhooks, and email parsing in Python and AI. You develop new integrations, stabilize existing ones, and ensure robust error handling, retry logic, and observability.
-
Further develop internal dashboards. Our operational reporting dashboards (revenue, delivery metrics, team performance) run in Looker Studio on Dataform transformation models in BigQuery. You will maintain these, implement new metrics, and serve as the first point of contact when numbers are incorrect or business units need new analyses.
-
Help shape Dataform models and BigQuery architecture. Together with our external data team, you will develop new models, improve existing ones, and implement new data quality checks. You don't need to be a data engineering specialist-but you understand what's happening and can contribute to the technical discussions.
-
Coordinate and review external experts. We work with a mixed team of freelancers, agencies, and specialists. Your job isn't to build everything yourself-but to understand what's being built, conduct code reviews, write briefings, and step in when something goes wrong or a decision needs to be made.
-
Set and enforce platform standards. You recognize when a new tool or framework unnecessarily complicates the ecosystem. You have a clear vision of what our services should look like-and you enforce this through reviews, documentation, and direct discussions. In the long term, you ensure that our platform grows in a unified direction: one stack, one framework standard, no technical silos.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience as a cloud or backend developer-with genuine end-to-end responsibility for cloud systems in production
- In-depth GCP experience (Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Terraform, IAM, Cloud Storage) or AWS experience with a clear willingness and ability to transition to GCP
- Python as your primary language - not just at a scripting level, but with depth: testing, dependency management, clean module structure, code reviews
- Proven ability to learn quickly: You have independently mastered new technologies or domains throughout your career and have become productive quickly
- Generalist mindset: Integration, infrastructure, and data all on the table at once - for you, this is variety, not an overwhelming challenge
It would be great if you had:
- Initial experience with BigQuery, Dataform, or dbt
- Looker Studio or comparable BI / reporting tools
- Dagster, Airflow, or other orchestration frameworks
- Experience with e-commerce or ERP systems (Magento, Odoo)
- GCP Professional Cloud Developer certification
