Job description

  • Design, implement, and support secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Apply DevOps best practices and cloud-native design principles
  • Use Infrastructure as Code and automation to drive continuous delivery across environments
  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines
  • Write and maintain scripts and automation tools to reduce manual tasks
  • Work with containerisation and orchestration best practices
  • Support secrets management, identity, and access control
  • Implement AWS security best practices, including encryption, patching, monitoring, least privilege access, and compliance
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Develop monitoring and logging solutions to improve reliability and incident response
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement mitigations
  • Support routing, traffic management, and load balancing configurations
  • Work within structured release and change management processes
  • Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven architectures
  • Use Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to support delivery and collaboration

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience administering Red Hat OS and Windows environments
  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or another cloud provider in containerised solutions
  • Experience supporting application troubleshooting
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Bamboo
  • Ability to deliver automation solutions
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and services
  • Strong scripting skills
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional or equivalent certification is desired
  • Proficiency in Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation is desired
  • Experience with Ansible for configuration management is desired
  • ITIL Foundation Certification or experience in ITIL-based environments is desired
  • Must be a UK citizen and based in the UK for the duration of the role
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, UK SC clearance
  • BPSS pre-screening is required to start
