Are you a technically credible engineer with a passion for wireless communications, embedded systems and helping customers bring innovative products to market?, Solsta is looking for a Field Applications Manager to join our growing team, supporting customers across the Midlands and the South of England. This is a customer-facing technical role where you will combine your engineering expertise with commercial awareness to develop new business opportunities, support design wins and build lasting customer relationships.
Working closely with leading semiconductor suppliers and internal commercial teams, you'll provide technical guidance throughout the customer journey, from concept and product selection through to prototyping, validation and production. You'll also play a key role in identifying new opportunities, growing the design pipeline and supporting Solsta's continued growth within the electronics and embedded systems market.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge wireless technologies, embedded computing platforms and innovative customers developing the next generation of connected products., * Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support across wireless modules, System on Module (SoM) platforms and embedded technologies.
- Build strong relationships with customer engineering teams, understanding technical requirements and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Support customers throughout the design lifecycle, from concept and evaluation through to production.
- Identify and develop new design-win opportunities across existing and prospective customers.
- Build and maintain a healthy design pipeline aligned with business objectives.
- Work collaboratively with internal Sales, Product Management, Supplier Development and Applications teams.
- Deliver technical presentations, seminars, webinars and customer workshops.
- Develop strong relationships with key semiconductor suppliers and technology partners.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline activity and customer updates.
- Keep up to date with emerging wireless technologies, embedded platforms and industry developments.
Requirements
You will be an experienced electronics engineer with strong technical capability and the commercial confidence to work directly with customers. You will also bring:
- Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of wireless communication technologies including Cellular (LTE, NB-IoT, LTE-M), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, LoRa/LoRaWAN and GNSS.
- Experience working with System on Module (SoM) platforms and embedded Linux or RTOS environments.
- Practical knowledge of ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V or similar microcontroller architectures.
- Experience supporting embedded hardware and firmware development throughout the product lifecycle.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and commercial audiences.
- Strong customer relationship management and business development skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable experience includes:
- Existing relationships within the UK electronics design community.
- Experience delivering technical presentations, customer demonstrations or training.
- Knowledge of embedded display technologies and wider semiconductor solutions.
