Job description

We're looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. You'll be at the heart of our operations, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge Marketplace and Software Tools platforms.

In this role, you will be instrumental in automating our development pipeline and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our services within our telecommunications and managed service provider (MSP) environment. This role specifically will have more of a focus on AWS. If you're passionate about automation and building robust systems, we want to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

  • CI/CD Support: Assist in maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines for our Marketplace and Software Tools platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Contribute to building and maintaining our cloud and on-premise infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Containerisation: Support the deployment and operation of containerised applications in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Automation & Scripting: Help automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash and tools such as Chef, Ansible.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Assist in Implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging and alerting solutions (e.g HPe OpsRamp, UpTime).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, network engineers, and product teams to troubleshoot issues and support platform reliability, and to ensure our platforms meet the stringent requirements of our telco/MSP clients.
  • Security: Learn and apply DevSecOps policies into the development lifecycle, including vulnerability scanning, static code analysis, and compliance checks.

Requirements

  • Recent, commercial experience in a DevOps, cloud, or infrastructure role
  • Fundamental knowledge of AWS services (EC2, IAM, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda)
  • Exposure to container technologies (Docker, familiarity with Kubernetes is a bonus).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (BitBucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar).
  • Working Knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
  • Good foundation in Scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Solid foundation of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, Firewalls).

Benefits & conditions

What's in it for you?

  • Hybrid working (3 days per week in our Prudhoe office, 2 remote)
  • Investment in your future career with a variety of learning and development opportunities.
  • No dress code - embrace the freedom to bring your whole self to work.
  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. You'll even get your birthday off, too!
  • A pension plan for your future.
  • Complimentary refreshments in all our offices.
