Job description

We are seeking a Data Protection & Fraud Assistant to join a busy and highly regarded General Counsel function on a contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong administrative, compliance, customer service, or regulatory experience who are looking to develop their expertise within data protection, fraud prevention, and governance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the delivery and ongoing maintenance of the organisation's Data Protection compliance framework.
  • Assist in promoting data protection and fraud awareness across all business areas.
  • Manage and administer Subject Access Requests (SARs), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Process external information disclosure requests, including those from law enforcement, legal, and regulatory enquiries.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including police forces, government agencies, financial institutions, customers, and members of the public.
  • Assist with investigations into data protection breaches and fraud-related incidents.
  • Support compliance reviews of third-party suppliers and data processors.
  • Maintain registers relating to fraud incidents, whistleblowing cases, and compliance activities.
  • Produce and report Management Information (MI) relating to data protection, fraud enquiries, and compliance activity.
  • Update and maintain compliance procedures, guidance, and intranet content.
  • Provide guidance on established policies and procedures through the Data Protection & Fraud helpdesk.
  • Support the delivery of Data Protection & Fraud training sessions for new employees.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a customer service, administrative, compliance, governance, or regulatory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A practical and proactive approach to delivering solutions and managing workload.
  • An understanding of working within a regulated environment would be advantageous.
