Job description

Leeds has become an important centre for data, financial services, technology and professional consulting. At LA Analytics Group, we help organisations make better decisions through data analysis, business intelligence, performance reporting and practical research., We are looking for a Lead Data Analyst who can take ownership of complex analytical projects and guide the delivery of accurate, useful and actionable insights. You will work closely with clients, business stakeholders, data engineers and reporting teams to translate business questions into clear analytical solutions.

This role is suited to an experienced analyst who can combine strong technical ability with leadership and stakeholder management. You will review analytical methods, improve reporting standards and support other analysts in producing high quality work., * Analytical Project Leadership: Lead data analysis projects from initial requirements gathering through data preparation, analysis, validation and presentation.

  • Business Requirements: Work with stakeholders to understand operational challenges, reporting needs and measurable business objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, risks and performance opportunities.
  • Dashboard Development: Design and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations that communicate information clearly to decision makers.
  • Data Quality: Review data sources for accuracy, consistency and completeness and coordinate the resolution of quality issues.
  • Performance Reporting: Develop key performance indicators, reporting frameworks and management information for business and client teams.
  • Statistical Analysis: Apply appropriate statistical and analytical methods to support forecasting, segmentation and performance evaluation.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present findings, recommendations and analytical limitations clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Team Leadership: Guide and mentor data analysts while reviewing their work and supporting professional development.
  • Process Improvement: Improve analytical workflows, reporting processes and data documentation to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Work with data engineering, business intelligence, project management and operational teams to deliver joined up solutions.
  • Data Governance: Support appropriate controls for data access, documentation, confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
  • Quality Assurance: Validate analytical outputs and ensure that reports and recommendations are supported by reliable evidence.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 6 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, performance reporting or a related analytical position.
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex datasets, identify meaningful patterns and develop practical recommendations.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Programming Knowledge: Experience using Python, R or another analytical programming language is highly desirable.
  • Data Management: Strong understanding of data preparation, validation, modelling and quality assurance.
  • Reporting Skills: Experience developing executive dashboards, performance reports and key performance indicators.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor analysts, review analytical work and coordinate priorities across multiple projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Confidence working with clients, managers and operational teams to define requirements and explain findings.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to structure unclear business questions and develop evidence based analytical approaches.
  • Communication: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to make complex information understandable.
  • Professional Approach: A methodical, organised and responsible approach to deadlines, confidential data and analytical accuracy.
