Senior Backend Developer

My client, a global leader in financial market infrastructure, is looking for a Senior Developer to join a growing engineering team responsible for building and evolving business-critical Front Office trading applications.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major platform modernisation programme, working on a combination of greenfield development and the evolution of existing trading systems. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technical leaders, helping to design scalable distributed applications that support global financial markets while having genuine input into technical direction and architecture., * Design, develop and enhance high-performance Back End applications using C# and .NET

• Build scalable distributed systems that support business-critical Front Office trading platforms
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the future direction of the platform
• Develop resilient microservices and APIs using modern engineering practices
• Take ownership of features throughout the full software development life cycle, from design through to production
• Work closely with Principal Engineers, Architects and business stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions
• Support the ongoing modernisation of existing platforms while contributing to greenfield initiatives
• Champion engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing and continuous integration
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture
• Participate in Agile delivery, helping estimate, plan and deliver complex technical solutions

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using C#/.NET (Java backgrounds will also be considered)
• Experience building distributed systems, microservices or event-driven applications
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Strong understanding of software architecture and modern design principles
• Experience building RESTful APIs and scalable Back End services
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar would be beneficial
• Experience working within Agile engineering teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for building high-quality software

Nice to Have

• Experience developing Front Office trading applications
• Knowledge of financial markets, capital markets or electronic trading
• Experience working across asset classes such as Fixed Income, FX, Equities, Commodities or Derivatives
• Understanding of low-latency or high-performance distributed systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Infrastructure as Code
• Exposure to FIX Protocol or market data technologies
