Platform Engineer (Java)

Our Technology team builds the systems and experiences that keep Revolut moving. From the infrastructure behind our innovative app to the features used by millions of people around the world, they bring sharp thinking, speed, and a focus on meaningful impact to everything they do., We're looking for a Platform Engineer to contribute to our core backend systems, from the event store to the underlying transactional infrastructure that other members of the Engineering team work on.

Whatever you ship at this layer ends up being used across the whole company, so a small improvement here can save a lot of time for the team later.

What you'll be doing

• Building and scaling our core systems
• Writing high-throughput, concurrent code at production scale
• Working on problems that affect multiple teams across Engineering
• Reviewing code and helping other engineers with system design

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, maths, physics, or similar field
• Production fluency in Java, or expertise in another backend language (Kotlin, Scala, Python, Go etc) and a readiness to work primarily in Java
• A track record of building core systems or foundational platforms that other engineers built on top of
• Distributed systems experience at a meaningful scale
• The ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Fluency in English

Nice to have

• A background in fintech or other high-volume transactional environment
• Experience in a startup or scale-up
• Event sourcing in production
• Open-source contributions to frameworks, libraries, or developer tooling
