Job description

The Field Support Specialist is an entry to mid-level technical position responsible for providing onsite and remote IT support for infrastructure and operational projects. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues at assigned sites, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service. The position involves coordinating with various departments to maintain IT standards, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and support IT infrastructure upgrades., * Serve as the main point of contact for all IT support needs at the assigned site, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Support and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices to ensure operational continuity.
  • Maintain and update inventory of PC assets, accessories, and IT equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement hardware/software upgrades and new technology rollouts.
  • Document resolution procedures and update knowledge base articles for future reference.
  • Provide technical guidance and end-user training to enhance IT equipment usage and troubleshooting skills.
  • Respond promptly to service requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems, managing workloads efficiently.
  • Assist in the deployment and troubleshooting of network equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, and site-to-site VPNs.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to ensure IT infrastructure security and performance.
  • Support and coordinate special projects related to infrastructure improvements and operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field preferred.
  • Valid TWIC card required; CompTIA certifications such as A+, Net+, MCP, MCDST, or HDI Desktop Support Technician highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of IT support experience, preferably in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, and standard business applications.
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless networks (Cisco preferred), and web-based solutions.
  • Experience with server management, Cisco networking equipment, and mobile device setup (iOS, Android).
  • Familiar with ITSM platforms such as BMC Remedy or similar.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with site visits.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; reliable personal vehicle is required.
  • Willing to travel up to 80% for daily site visits, including possible overnight stays.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and adapt to a flexible schedule.
