Job description

A growing environmental consulting organization is seeking a DevOps Engineer with a background in environmental science, environmental engineering, or scientific computing to support the development of modern data infrastructure, automation, and technical tools used across environmental projects., DevOps & Technical Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to improve technical workflows, infrastructure, and software delivery processes.

  • Administer and support cloud and DevOps platforms used by scientific and engineering teams.

  • Develop, maintain, and document internal applications, code libraries, automation processes, and technical resources.

  • Improve the reliability, usability, and consistency of shared tools and computational workflows.

  • Design and implement reusable solutions that support environmental data analysis, modeling, visualization, and reporting

Requirements

This role is ideal for someone with 3-7 years of DevOps, cloud, or software engineering experience who enjoys working at the intersection of technology and environmental problem-solving. You will partner with scientists, engineers, modelers, and technical specialists to build and maintain scalable systems that support large environmental datasets, advanced analytics, and scientific modeling workflows., * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.

  • 3-7 years of relevant professional experience in DevOps, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, or scientific computing.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other scientific computing languages.
  • Experience with common data analysis and visualization libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Tidyverse, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and containerized workflows.
  • Experience with software development best practices, including:
  • Version control (Git/GitHub)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • API integrations
  • Data automation workflows
  • Artifact management
  • Collaborative development practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
