Job description

This role focuses on testing and validating embedded vehicle control software to ensure that safety-critical systems, including braking, steering, and suspension, perform reliably and meet high quality standards. You will work in a rapidly evolving environment on new features and functions, using modern test automation tools and methods to deliver robust software for vehicle control systems., * Plan, design, and execute automated and manual tests for embedded vehicle control software, with a focus on safety-critical systems such as braking, steering, and suspension.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts using tools such as ecu.test or scripting languages like Python.
  • Perform Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing to validate vehicle control software across different stages of development.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development and systems teams to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
  • Validate embedded automotive software that runs on electronic hardware modules, ensuring correct integration and performance within vehicle control systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks, methodologies, and processes to increase test coverage and efficiency.
  • Document test plans, test cases, and test results clearly and accurately to support traceability and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the introduction of new features and functions, ensuring they meet quality and safety expectations before release., This position offers a hybrid work schedule that combines on-site work with work-from-home flexibility. You will work with embedded automotive hardware modules and utilize tools and environments that support Model-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing. The environment is fast-paced and rapidly evolving, with a focus on innovation in vehicle control systems and continuous improvement of software quality.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in software testing.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation using tools such as ecu.test or equivalent, or strong scripting skills with Python.
  • Experience with Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing.
  • Practical experience in embedded software testing, particularly within automotive applications.
  • Understanding of vehicle control systems and their embedded software components.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BS Engineering) or a closely related technical field.
  • Ability to analyze test results, identify defects, and communicate findings clearly to technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with vehicle controls software testing.
  • Familiarity with automotive software development or validation practices.
  • Awareness of relevant automotive and software standards such as ISO-related frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a systems-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and collaborate with distributed teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.30 - $50.74/hr.
